Who's your daddy.........

this is a brand new baby in the last few days.............cute isn't she.............i'm not sure who Dad is though as we have Herefords (red and white) and Angus (black) bulls............never had a calf this colour so someone jumped the fence somewhere............
Here's Mum and baby..............black and white with Angus = BLACK, black and white with Hereford =B&W like mum.......
In between all my cleaning I had to check this new baby out..........worth the trip.........
Everyday for the last week there is smoke in the air at some stage in the afternoon....................lots of cropping paddocks being burnt off at the moment...........creates a little more colour in the sunsets some days..............the haze to the left on the sun is smoke............
I have a pile of visitors over the next 2 1/2 weeks some coming and staying the whole time and others coming and going..........shearing, pipe laying, plenty of stock work, motor bikes will be going everyday, i'll have to make numerous batches of Anzac biscuits plus lots of other goodies........
dust everywhere since it is dry..............my cleaning time is counting down.........they are on there way...........lucky they have a long trip..............
When i get overloaded by the whole lot I will sneak off to the sewing area for a break and send them to the motor bike track..........but it is lovely to have them visiting..............
....the nights are getting cooler and I have a few quilts to bind so hopefully I can get some binding done of a night too
Catch you later..............
Chookyblue
PS can you believe people are talking xmas swap already.............OMG where is the year going.............SLOW DOWN..............

very cute calf. what sort would mum need to mix with to get this colour? Nice to hear a farm post were you sound like your ole self. you seemed a bit down last time. enjoy the hols, we don't break up until next week! too long this term

Your new little calf sure is a cutie, and as you say, quite an unusual colour considering her supposed lineage. The photos show just how dry it is out your way. I'm sure you will have everything looking lovely by the time your visitors arrive.

What a beauty! Seeing her makes me miss calving season from my years growing up on a farm. Actually I think I remember us having a calf this colour from an Angus mum - the bull had Simmental (spelling?) bloodlines. It is a shocker when you get a calf that looks nothing like its mommma! ;o)

Have fun with all your company and good luck sneaking in some sewing time. :o)

I love the calf, he is so cute....
i am such a mush....i was watching this show called the gourmet farmer and he had to kill a lamb, for meat and i am like....NO NOPE couldn't do that, guess i am lucky i am not a farmers wife....
although i guess i would have got used to it....

good luck with the shearing....wish i could be there

hope you don't need to much, but get some time in the sewing room

Lovely photo of mum and daughter. Can a cow have a 'black sheep' I wonder.
You captured a really atmospheric sunset there too... really fab.
Don't worry about the cleaning... your visitors are coming to see you... they won't be worried about dust. That's what everyone tells me.... but I clean anyway!!

She is a lovely colour whatever her lineage, and she blends in quite nicely with the landscape. Christmas is too far away for me to think about yet. Enjoy your visitors and don't forget to sneak away for sewing therapy :) although I'm sure they won't mind.

We have a calf that color! Check the picture on my blog, but her Mom is blonde with a red Dad. I love seeing all of the different color calves. They're all beautiful creatures.

What a cutie! We also have lots of visitors coming and going at the moment, but as I clean 2 little boys un-clean so no time to sneak in any sewing :-(

Enjoy the school holidays....sometimes a change of routine can be a break.....motorbike tracks are great for some peace and quiet....ie. dad and kids having fun while mum gets some creative R&R (although I love watching them ride too - and sometimes have a go myself)

A surprise maybe, but definitely a cutie! Busy times at your place, have fun and I hope you get a little time to yourself too.

got his color pattern from his momma, and the diluted color from a Simmental? Maybe a Charolais? Not sure what he neighbors have there......

Don't you love the little speckly spots on the face??

Enjoy your visitors Chooky, I am secretly delighted that I don't have to go anywhere at all this holidays, so will be dividing my time between the sewing room and the garden.

so cute calf, just a delight for the eyes and the story for the soul

There has to me some Murray grey in the cow....otherwise that calf should be black! Murray grey is surprisingly strong in dominance. tracey Have a good holiday break...and all we've had here for weeks is smoke..only way to beat those weeds.

She is pretty cute... even if you don't know who her dad is! ;) Hope you're enjoying your time with the visitors!
